The waiting sensation

The anxiousness, nervousness, tension, helplessness, uneasiness, stress, restlessness, edginess, anxiety and worry feeling when you get when you are waiting for something really important can really give you a heart attack. I belief this sensation can be felt when you are in these situations:

1. Waiting for your bonus or increment

2. Waiting for the reply on something important

3. Waiting for the result of your job interview

4. Waiting for the result of your examinations

5. Waiting to enter an interview

6. Waiting for the results of your medical checkup

7. Waiting to see someone important

8. Waiting to see the sex of your baby

9. Waiting for your court case

10. Waiting for information on your loved ones, etc

In these situations, normal people will be anxiously waiting for whatever thing which is important to them. You will lose sleep over these kinds of things. Well some of the experiences I had in these situations are:

a) I think one of the most anxious times I had was when I was waiting for the result of my thesis and my final year examination results. At the same time, I was hoping that I wouldn’t fail any subjects and had to redo another semester, while I was hoping that I get good grades so that I can graduate with my first class honours. I waited and waited and waited everyday…. Logging into my student account for UTM hourly, just to check my results. And, I never got sick of bored from checking every hour… I think I did that for a few weeks until the unofficial results came out. But when the unofficial results came out, I was informed that the university management might change the results if there are any problems with the markings, and that took another couple weeks. The wait was both tiring and stressful. But once the results were confirmed, my sigh of relief, can be heard miles away. Haha… actually the same thing happened with my SPM results as I was waiting for it. Back then, you have to SMS some number to get the results.

b) The second situation was when I am awaiting the reply from a certain someone. It was really tiring thinking what the person will reply me. Sometimes, when I want to have an outing with some friends, waiting for their answer is really stressful, they might say yes or no to you. And when they forget to reply you, it keeps me restless for the rest of the day just to wait for their reply even it’s just a simple reply. There was once, when I messaged a gal for the first time, I messaged at 11 pm, therefore I did not expect her to reply immediately. But even though I knew she probably will not reply me, I was still very restless, waking up every 2 hours just to check my messages. Then the next day was also as tiring and I was in crappy mood because I was just waiting for that one reply. And yet, the reply never came, 12 hours, 14 hours, 24 hours, and then the following day she replied. What a relief. I was so happy it turned my whole day around. After that I became too restless as I was too happy and could not really control myself.

c) The third situation is the information on my yearend bonus and increment. Actually I would normally know the amount of my bonus and increment before I get it from my boss as I have good source. However, once it’s yearend towards the Chinese New Year, everyone in the office is anxiously waiting for news regarding their bonuses and increment. This wait is sometimes quite stressful, as most of my colleagues, me included need the extra money to spend during the Chinese New Year and we would to see whether the boss appreciates us or not by the amount of bonus and increment they award us.

Well these are the few examples I have in my life where I have this really tingling waiting sensation. What’s your???

Try and succeed method

It is also commonly known as the trial and error method, however I would like to change it to “try and be happy that you have tried”. I believe that it is better to have tried and failed rather than never tried and live to regret it. There comes a point in life where you would like to try things out, and you are worried of the losses which might be incurred to yourself if you tried it. At the same time, you would be thinking about the benefits which could be reaped from trying.

This method can applied in many aspects of our lives. Examples are as follows:

  1. 1. Starting a business – Of course you would be thinking of having your own business instead of just being an employee for the rest of your life. Are you willing to spare part of your savings and your time to start a business you love? Say you like to bake, and one of your dreams is to have your own bakery and you have been saving enough cash to allow yourself to open your own business. Are you willing to trade your stable, secure job to own your own business? There are of course risks involved here, you might have to quit your job and spend a significant amount of money for your business. Nothing is done without risks, even the current job which you think is secure might not be as secure as it seems. The upside of starting your own business is that you have control over your own future, you will be doing what you love and last but not least, you can be the boss.
  2. 2. Life – Many things in life which you could spare some time and think and try doing are actually worthwhile. Would you try bungee jumping, rock climbing, hiking and all the other activities which we do not normally carry out? Some people would be worried to death thinking about these activities when these activities are actually as safe as driving your own car. Let’s say you are currently in New Zealand and you were offered to go bungee jumping with a group of friends, would you do it? As typical Asians we would be worried sick about safety and all the other nonsense. But would you regret it once you get back from your trip? Another example is when your relative and friends invite you to join them for a trip to Europe, the United States or China? We would normally think, I am going to burn a hole in my wallet. But 20 to 30 years down the road, when you are old and cannot travel, you will regret not being able to travel to those places right?
  3. 3. Love – This I belief only applied to all introverts and most typical Asians. What would you do if you see someone you like? Would you just keep quiet and play it out? Or take the initiative and go after that person. The same question goes to both sexes. Of course, you might be rejected as that person maybe unavailable or not in the market, but how would you know if you never tried? The worst you can get out of asking someone is just a bruised ego right? Who knows you might be getting your love of your life?

Conclusion. Just to it!!!! J

Clash of the Titans

Watched it last night. But the title is a bit out ler. The movie itself is OK. I mean clash of the titans, shouldn't it mean a couple titans slugging out? Instead it's just a few guys fighting some monsters? It should be Perseus vs the monsters/Hades. I'll give it a 3.5/5. It's not a bad movie, plus i've been told that the movie is just ok therefore, my expectations were not that high. But it's more than what i expected.

This is a story about a Demigod, the son of Zeus, Perseus who has been living his whole life as a fisherman until one day, Hades killed his parents and sister/brother. So he wanted revenge!!! He was caught by the soldiers from Argos and was imprisoned, where he was told by Io (gemma arteton) that he's the son of Zeus. Before he was imprisoned, the king and queen of Argos were excited/proud that they declared war on the Gods by destroying their statues and temples. After that, Hades appeared and threatened them, that he would "Release the Kraken" if they do not sacrifice the princess before the eclipse as the queen claimed that the princess is the most beautiful thing alive.

So Perseus went on the hunt to kill hades to revenge the death of his family and stop the Kraken. So in his journey, he fought the former king, monstrous scorpions and killed medusa and lost all his companions. He cut of Medusa's head and used it to turn the Kraken into stone. And oh yeah, Zeus gave Perseus a sword and Pegasus(the horse with wings). Perseus used the sword to dump Hades back to hell.

It was an action packed movie but it was a bit too short lo. Around 1 hour 40 minutes only. They ending was a bit too predictable and maybe they were rushing to the end of the movie. I would have prefered more fighting against Hades. (cast - sam worthinton (avatar), liam neeson(star wars), gemma arteton director - louis leterrier)

Next movie, "Ice Kacang, puppy love". Yeepee... But I also wanna watch Shutter Island.............

Today is a free day for me... :) Actually planned to get some work done. But I forgot to bring some of my stuff back and i was too lazy to head back to office and get them. Karma ?

Do you belief in karma? This was obtained from wikipedia "According to karma, performing positive actions results in a good condition in one's experience, whereas a negative action results in a bad effect." In other words, do good and you'll be rewarded with something good and vice versa.

Have you watched "My Name is Earl"? This tv series goes like this, this guy named Earl was a very unlucky dude until he learnt the meaning of Karma and started doing good things and well, good things started to befall him. Therefore, he wrote down a whole list of evil deeds he did and he tried to fix all the bad things he did previously with the 100,000 USD he won in a lottery. So the whole series is about how he tries to fix his bad doings. Too bad the series has stopped dy. I used to follow it weekly ler. Nice and funny.

But for me, it's not really karma you see. It's just that I like to help people whenever I can. But I don't just simply help anyone k? I only help those whom I think really needs help and I consider friends. So if you've asked for my help and I rejected you due to some silly reason, you should know the reason.... Muahahahha.... keke(evil laugh)

Somehow I belief it's just been built into my system to help out others no matter how tough it might be on me. I'm not so sure that it's a good thing or not. For you guys who read this and do not belief that I'm that good, then sorry lo. You have to ask my friends how I really help them out. Even when they don't really need my help, I'll insist in helping them. haha. Maybe i'm just being too much of a busybody kua... hahaha.... But that's how I'm made.

Anyway, when I do something normally I don't expect anything in return but a good gesture once in awhile will really make me smile ear to ear lo. I'm just human ok? :)

Now back to Karma, it's not that I don't belief it, it's just that I don't practice it at all. I don't so what I do for the sake of karma. I just do it cause i wanted to do it lo. Karma is good if you belief it as it will encourage you all out there to do good. But don't expect everything to go smoothly in life because you did something good ok? For example, you could have helped someone out there but you might be rewarded with an evil look. Another example is that if you see a strangers car by the roadside and you wanted to do something nice and tried to help out the driver. The driver might be suspicious of you, thinking somehow you'll try to rip him off as he doesn't belief that there is anyone good on the face of the earth left. So my advice is that, don't expect something good when you're trying to do something good ok? You might get misunderstood by other as they think too much, critically of what you just did.

But... Try to be nice to all your buddies ya all............. :)

TV cabinet...

Went to Boulevard to buy a ready to assemble TV cabinet. Sis and Mum didn't check the components, and there was a piece missing. Sien liaw, so tired and yet still had to go out and get it changed............. So tired! Haven't felt so tired for along time liaw

Not Feeling Well

Sniff Sniff... Having Flu again............. y do i keep getting flu.....??? i really hate it as it makes me very drowsy and tired......... I used to get it weekly, but now it's once every 2-3 months or when I have too much work and don't get enough sleep. But I got it today!!!! y???? On a sunday???? Y???

Mostly like it's caused by my low immune system lo. What can I do to prevent it from happening other than get extra sleep? I've been taking vitamins, fish oil and some other supplements and they don't seem to help at all. I just know how to cure it, get 2-3 hours of sleep and I'll be OK again. Isn't that just weird? weird weird weird.... Ohh yeah... the other thing is that I don't take any medication when I get the flu unless it's really really bad. Normally will just sleep it off. On working days, I'll just try to get through the day doing easy works which doesn't require much thinking, for things which require lots of thinking and are urgent, sorry lah. :(
